“Gilbert,” I chirped quietly as I sat on the larger silver-haired man’s lap, facing him. “Gilbert, Gilbert, Gilbert, Gilbert!”
He smiled and chuckled quietly as I continued chanting happily. He had told me before that he liked the way I said his name, he said it made me sound so little and innocent. I just didn’t like how it sounded in other languages, so I naturally used my own. It just didn’t sound nearly as fluent in the others.
“You’re laughing,” I giggled slightly and poked his nose with the tip of my finger. He chuckled again and lightly took my hand in his larger one.
“No, just chuckling,” he replied with a smile and put our hands against his cheek. I giggled when I felt his voice reverberate through his chest. It was such a comforting feeling that I closed my eyes and sighed contently afterwards.
Gilbert gently removed our hands from his cheek again and in the process I laced our fingers together gently. He brought our hands down to rest in his lap as I leaned forward a bit and rested my cheek on his shoulder, sighing again. He then gently ran his other hand’s fingers through my hair and hummed softly, a rather unusual thing for him to do.
“You’re not usually like this,” I mumbled quietly and looked straight into his gently shining red eyes.
“Neither are you,” he retorted quietly as he stopped stroking and I smiled slightly up at him.
“I guess not,” I said with closed eyes and cuddled further into him, as he smiled down gently.
I felt the muscles in his neck and shoulders move slightly before I felt warmth right at my hairline. I smiled and chuckled ever so slightly as Gilbert’s warm lips stayed in their spot on my head.
“What is it you want me to do, you silly little sneak?” I asked and looked back up at him once he removed his lips from my forehead.
“Whatever do you mean?” Gilbert said, feigning innocence, with a quiet chuckle to follow.
“You’re obviously after something,” I said with a sly smile and poked his nose again.
“Run ten laps,” he said and my eyes widened at this.
“Excuse me, what?” I asked disbelievingly and removed my head from his shoulder.
“I was kidding, my gullible little girl,” Gilbert said with a sweet smile and poked my nose this time.
“Oh thank god,” I said relieved and placed my head back on his shoulder. “You had me scared for a second.”
“I’ll give you a day off,” he said and snuggled a bit into my hair before inhaling deeply.
“Wunderbar,” I said and closed my eyes with another gentle smile.
“Could you please repeat that?” Gilbert asked and sounded a bit confused and taken aback.
“No,” I replied shortly and turned my head so my face was buried in his shoulder.
“Come on,” I could nearly hear a pout in his request.
“Are we pouting?” I asked without looking up and smiled crookedly.
“What? No, of course not.” Could I really just hear a blush on his cheeks?
I looked up again and saw the slightest trace of color dust his pale cheeks. I giggled a bit and ran the back of my unoccupied hand over his cheek. He glanced down at me from the corner of his eyes, and one of the sweetest smiles I had ever seen graced his handsome face.
“You should smile like this some more,” I nearly whispered as I stroked his cheek.
“I don’t think so,” he replied and leaned slightly into the touch.
“And why not?” I asked a bit confused and widened my eyes a bit.
“Because then they wouldn’t be as special as you seem to think they are,” he replied in a whisper and closed his eyes gently.
“True,” I replied and smiled softly. “Gilbert.”
“You know I love it when you say that.”
“Yea, I do,” I said and kissed him softly on the lips.
